The intent of Te Mātuku is to maintain and strengthen mana motuhake, rangatiratanga, and kotahitanga in Te Ranga Tupua through effective leadership, effective strategy, and effective decision making, to achieve iwi Māori hauora aspirations.
Te Mātuku are working to advance, promote, and represent Māori perspectives in the Te Ranga Tupua region on:
-
the needs and aspirations of Māori in relation to hauora Māori outcomes;
-
how the health sector is performing in relation to those needs and aspirations; and
-
the design and delivery of services and public health interventions within Te Ranga Tupua region
we will do this by
Working at a strategic leadership level to:
-
Communicate the results and insights from engagement with whānau and hapū in Te Ranga Tupua about local health needs to Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) and the wider health system;
-
Evaluate the current state of hauora Māori in Te Ranga Tupua for the purpose of determining priorities for improving hauora Māori;
-
Monitor the performance of the health sector in Te Ranga Tupua;
-
Engage with Te Whatu Ora to ensure Hauora Māori investment is prioritised for kaupapa Māori and innovation;
-
Report on activities to whānau and hapori Māori within Te Ranga Tupua
COMMUNITY HEALTH PLAN
-
Our ambitous plan was launched on 1 December 2024
-
It's centred around our whānau, hapū, iwi and community
-
Everyone in the sector has a role to play in its success
-
It's the first iteration of many
-
We are engaging with the sector and our own whānau to understand the community health plan.
